JESSIE GLOVA as FRIDA KAHLO

Frida Kahlo de Rivera (born Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón; July 6, 1907 – July 13, 1954)[2][4] was a Mexican painter, born in Coyoacán,[5] who is best known for her self-portraits.[6]
I find myself in her very passionate witrh her art I am a born painter as well I adore her .. as she celebrates simplicity , arts , life , colors , though her paintings .

Kahlo's life began and ended in Mexico City, in her home known as the Blue House. She gave her birth date as July 7, 1910, but her birth certificate shows July 6, 1907. Kahlo had allegedly wanted the year of her birth to coincide with the year of the beginning of theMexican revolution so that her life would begin with the birth of modern Mexico. Her work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous tradition, and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form.[7]
Mexican culture and Amerindian cultural tradition are important in her work, which has been sometimes characterized as Naïve art orfolk art.[8] Her work has also been described as "surrealist", and in 1938 André Breton, principal initiator of the surrealist movement, described Kahlo's art as a "ribbon around a bomb".[7]
Kahlo had a volatile marriage with the famous Mexican artist Diego Rivera. She suffered lifelong health problems. Many of her health problems were the result of a traffic accident she survived as a teenager. Recovering from her injuries isolated her from other people and this isolation influenced her works, many of which are self-portraits of one sort or another. Kahlo suggested, "I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best."[9] She also stated, "I was born a bitch. I was born a painter."[10]

FINDING REAL BEAUTY :ENHANCING AND DEFINING FEATURES

 PRODUCTREAL BEAUTY

by: jessie glova

OUTER BEAUTY IS MORE IMPORTANT ? DO YOU THINK SO ?

THE BEAUTY QUEENS : HMHU : Jessie Glova

As this cliche phrase  that states  ....

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder "

Its is in fact so true .  Everyone sees beauty in many ways ... they have certain standards, levels, requirements and categories, some beauty experts  conform  to what is the true essence of being beautiful . Perfect , healthy ,clear and glowing skin, well defined features which include the bones structure  and facial / body symmetry and proportions and teeth formation so on and so forth.

beauty |ˈbyoōtē|
noun ( pl. -ties)
1 a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, esp. the sight : I was struck by her beauty | an area of outstanding natural beauty.
• a combination of qualities that pleases the intellect or moral sense.
• [as adj. ] denoting something intended to make a woman more attractive : beauty products | beauty treatment.

PHRASES
beauty is in the eye of the beholder proverb beauty cannot be judged objectively, for what one person finds beautiful or admirable may not appeal to another.
beauty is only skin-deep proverb a pleasing appearance is not a guide to character.
ORIGIN Middle English : from Old French beaute, based on Latin bellus ‘beautiful, fine.’

I  myself as a Make -up Artist and Stylist . "I always see beauty in our  imperfections".

I never thought of this  entire concept about beauty  that it can be  very complex ,like  there are  implications of scientific approaches  and  requires some  technological advancements like   digital equipments  for facial enhancements and the likes .

HMU: Jessie Glova

Coping with the advancements  of today's generation is no easy task for beauty experts there are continuous research on how regenerate our skin  or to defy age which is becoming a high demand in the market right now.... Imagine that it's such a great leap from a raw, organic approaches to highly synthetic organic  process ... just to be beautiful and now that i realized after I have studied  on  what is the true essence  REAL BEAUTY , its  not just all about what we see  on a  plain surface of  human anatomy but as well we  should consider the essentials like  color or  race , height , weight , type of skin , eye color and etc. that made as the total composition to what  is  individuality  and  distinctive quality of every human kind and it does come with a price it doesn't come cheap at all.

I admit that I am as well guilty with regards to creating and implying on  what is beautiful or what is a true beauty imposing wrong notion about the matter.

Miss Earth 2008 Miss Karla Henry Hair and Make-up Jessie Glova
This is because I have been a pageant enthusiasts and we embrace  and follow certain category or requirements to create or  to achieve a  what we call BEAUTY QUEEN STANDARD.
Miss Earth 2008 Ms . Karla Henry Hair and Make-up and Wardrobe: Jessie Glova
It is like prerequisite to the world of show business  the STARS .....  MUST BE BEAUTIFUL !!!!!

Now ,not everyone is gifted with physical beauty and we need to accept that its the reality ,. as we are living in this world where physical beauty is a joy forever, so there's a social pressure on how to cope with these  so called standards.

I am going to change that perception there's what we call INDIVIDUALITY , UNIQUENESS  AND DISTINCTIVENESS .. these are the qualities that we can  consider in be  able for an individual to see ,appreciate and measure beauty with regards to physical aspect .

Each one of us should know our face and body shape , and it should start from ourselves ... we need to accept our differences or imperfections, the real cure to this is to draw on  our other features ... maybe eyes . hair and so on ..that will simply lift up or boost esteem THAT MAKES ONE PERSON FEEL  GOOD  about themselves through self acceptance , and everything will just simply follow.

In this article ,.. what  I am showcasing here are the different pictures of real people real brides on their before and after look .

This article will serve as an eye opener to those people who doesn't seem to understand how important Make-up Artistry to our lives .

This will serve as to make them learn that there's always beauty beyond that bare face of yours with cosmetics as the tool to create and recreate looks in different mood and character.

This will make you appreciate your beauty some more and will embrace whats the true beauty is.

This will make you realize, that knowing your own feature you can already flaunt them instead of concealing or hiding them .

THERE ARE MIX REACTIONS ON HOW THESE PICTURES ARE PRESENTED ...

THESE ARE PICTURES OF DIFFERENT BEAUTIFUL LADIES WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN ENHANCED AND HAS DEFINED THEIR FACIAL FEATURES IN ORDER THAT  REAL BEAUTY WILL EXUDE AND TO COME OUT AND  FOR THEM TO  FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES SPECIALLY ON THEIR  BIG DAY LIKE THEIR WEDDING--------

Its so true that ...   every girl's dream is to become a beautiful princess and ladies dream of becoming the most beautiful bride.

HOW ?

KNOW YOURSELF , understand your strength and make sure to  acknowledge your weakness  for you  to correct them . Do not just simply settle on what has been given naturally  given (by choice ) ... there you need to enhance  if there's really a need for you to .

ENHANCEMENT IS THE CURE  ... maybe a non evasive operation, a color correction using whitening or tanning products  ...  or why not embrace what's this modern world can do in changing our lives so easy ...

MAJOR CONSTRUCTION  or a simple nose job perhaps is a good move ... but provided you should  get a specialist or the best cosmetic surgeon in town.

AND LASTLY ,

A GOOD MAKE-UP ARTIST is the answer for an instant enhancements, less expensive and the best option, and its cheaper you get to see the result in an instant a good artist its like Cinderella's fairy Godmother will turn a swan to a beautiful Princess.

A PICTURE OF A BEAUTIFUL AND  HAPPY BRIDE ... is the only PRODUCT done with passion and dedication BY a  GOOD MAKE-UP ARTIST .

Its the major marketing tool of an artist , where the artist showcases his work.

The AFTER PICTURES of the bride is not an INSULT nor to make them FEEL BAD  .....their bare face is the blank canvass for the  artist .... from the eye of an artist there is no such thing as ugly .... its  their natural beauty that needs to be defined and enhanced .

THE TRUTH ABOUT AIRBRUSH MAKE-UP by : Jessie Glova

GOING FOR AIRBRUSH OR JUST PLAIN CONVENTIONAL?????
MODEL GWEN TROT AIRBRUSH MAKE-UP BY JESSIE GLOVA

ATTN : ALL THE BRIDES TO BE , BUDDING MAKE-UP  ARTISTS , MAKE-UP JUNKIES AND  EVERYONE ....

I have been a Make-up artist for about 2 decades and i have been using different techniques and mediums ... similar to paintings i also call my foundation as medium ....from the cake  to Airbrush Make-up.

Airbrush make-up for me is such a life saver... it makes your job a lot easier and gives a flawless effect and as well its saves a lot of time ...here ill be showcasing different types of Airbrush products .. I am a Krayolan Airbrush user for years ,one thing i love with  Krayolan it has a very matte effect at the start when it begins to blend it gives a very luminous, velvety and silky feel and it lasts or stays  for more than 12 hours .

MAKE -UP ARTIST JESSIE GLOVA DOING AIRBRUSH
Krayolan Airbrush make-up for me has a very fine  in texture , very smooth silicon finish foundation  and it really layers your skin with similarly another skin with a minimal amount of the product it takes  6 to  12 drops  it can already cover the entire face  .

Airbrush makeup is makeup sprayed onto the skin using an Airbrush gun  instead of being applied with sponges, brushes, fingers, or other methods. It is popular in hollywood films and theater so as the celebrity sunless tanning ..... but now there are products  which are  designed for personal cosmetic use or home use. . Airbrush systems designed for these purpose are usually smaller and work at a lower pressures  designed for cosmetics than systems used in industrial applications which is designed for hard paints  .

according to my research in wikipedia

The technique was first used in 1925 on actors in BEN HUR  ,,..one of my best movies of all time and has since grown in popularity in the entertainment business and to date.

The History of Airbrush Makeup

AIRBRUSH MAKE-UP BY JESSIE GLOVA USING KRAYOLAN COSMETICS

In this article we will take a look at the history of Airbrush Make-up The first Airbrush was invented in 1879 by Abner Peeler using mostly spare parts from a jeweler’s  workshop, 4 years later a company by the name of Liberty Walkup began marketing Peeler’s invention. In 1893 Thayer and Chandler Art Materials presented the first modern airbrush at the World Columbian Exposition in Chicago, this device resembled the body of a pen and functioned similarly to the way the modern airbrushes do today.
In 1958 MGM began production on their epic film Ben Hur  (1959) – during production the makeup artists found themselves needing to apply faux tans to the thousands of extras who were supposed to be Romans, the airbrush proved to be their answer. They began spraying the extras with a makeshift foundation and found that the method worked extremely well.

Its revival started in some early and more resent sci-fi films. It is used to enhance many alien characters, prosthetic make up. In the mid 70’s airbrush face painting emerged as a popular art form that leaked slowly into Hollywood studios. It was first seen in the hair and beauty trade shows, masquerade balls, make-up competitions . Temporary tattoos, conventional make up, fantasy make up, Bodyart, fingernails hair and even airbrush tanning are some of the styles being used today.

Uses

Airbrush makeup has become more popular with the advent of HIGH DEFINITION VIDEO and TELEVISION  (HD). Traditional powder or liquid based make-up can settle and appear in pores and wrinkles and be visible on HD film.

As the makeup is sprayed on, it connects with the skin as millions of droplets of formula. The formula can create an even, sheer, natural appearance to the skin that, if applied properly for a natural look, can appear natural and non-heavy like traditional makeup.
Airbrush Make-up by Jessie Glova

Airbrush makeup wears longer than traditional powder or liquid foundation able to stay put upwards of 12-24 hours. It can be used to cover five o'clock shadow " it means the beard " for men. Airbrush makeup is also available for eye shadow, blush, eyebrows and lips and can be layered, shaded, highlighted and contoured

Application wise, the technique is more sanitary than traditional makeup application due the artist never having to touch the skin. It's also faster, if done by a trained artist. Fantasy and special effects are able to be stenciled or created by freehand.

Ingredients

Airbrush makeup comes in six different formulas:
  • Water based: Finely ground pigments dissipated in water.
  • Polymer-water-based: A mix of water, polymers and pigment, when airbrushed on the skin the polymer dries leaving a continuous coating on the skin.
  • Polymer-SD40-alcohol based: Instead of using water like the polymer-water-based formula, it uses alcohol which assists with drying of the makeup on the skin.
  • Alcohol based: Also called "temporary airbrush inks" alcohol based formulas are generally used when creating fake tattoos.
  • Silicone-based: Uses silicone for longer lasting wear and without fading. Silicone-based can be thinned with certain types of formula additives, for lighter coverage.[3]
Airbrush makeup can be removed by using a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and isopropyl myristate.

WHY GOING FOR AIRBRUSH ON YOUR WEDDING DAY ?

Airbrush Make-up : by Jessie Glova

I Always make sure that i have delivered right to my clients specially to the brides my explanations about the advantages of Airbrush Make-up  not everyone knows about how good it is ... well i trust Airbrush so much that i cant be convinced to like switch to the conventional medium and no other medium that's a lot more appropriate specially on someone's big day and it has to be special right ?

1. Full Coverage, Sheer Texture: A true airbrush foundation is high in coverage, but thin in texture, offering a high-opacity or full coverage application that's dispersed as sheerly and evenly as possible. The result is perfect-looking skin achieved with a minimum of product.
AIRBRUSH MAKE-UP BY : JESSIE GLOVA  MODEL ELLEN ADARNA

2. Refined Pattern: The spray dot-pattern the airbrush puts down on the skin registers less on camera than the patterns and trace lines that brushes and sponges leave behind. However, as invisible as these marks may appear to the naked eye, they can be quite visible when your client's face is shown in Hi-Definition close-up or in a High Resolution Digital Photo.

While other advantages include speed of application, longevity, and durability, the true advantage of airbrush makeup is the beautiful finished result it produces. The special foundations for airbrush makeup is more expensive than that of regular makeup because of the consistency and special ingredients they use to make this very thin formula with maximum coverage!

THE ADVANTAGES OF AIRBRUSH MAKEUP:

· Maximum coverage with minimal product
· Delivers a natural and translucent look that is as smooth as silk
· Great for oily skin
· Fantastic for overly active skin that tends to "eat" makeup
· Lasts ten to twelve hours - excellent for bridal makeup, it's a bride's best friend

JESSIE GLOVA more than just a MAKE-UP ARTIST

JESSIE GLOVA more than just a MAKE-UP ARTIST

He dreamed of becoming a professional make-up artist since he was 12 years old. Now, Jessie Glova’s name is synonymous with outstanding make-up artistry. He has indeed become one of the most sought-after make-up artists in Cebu. He does make-up for weddings, fashion shoots, corporate pictorials, fashion shows, television and stage performances, and the list just goes on.
Glova is specifically famous for his exceptional airbrush make-up skills. He recommends this type of make-up because it is very light. When the make-up is sprayed on the skin, it creates an even and flawless appearance. With the rise of high-definition video, airbrush make-up is becoming more popular.
Glova has finished an intensive make-up course at the Sophystique Academy of Make-up Artists in Singapore. The Cebuano make-up artist has worked with celebrities such as Angel Aquino, Anna Fegi, Pops Fernandez, Zsa-Zsa Padilla, and Kuh Ledesma. Top Brand Awards has named him the 2011 Most Outstanding Make-up Artist and Stylist. The owner of Jessie Glova Make-up and Style Studio also conducts basic make-up classes. If the students prove that they have the right skills, they may get the chance to be a part of his style team.
Glova considers every make-up project a challenge. According to him, it is not about the technical approach in make-up application but being able to understand and achieve what the clients want.  He emphasizes the importance of understanding a person’s character and enhancing their features rather than making her look like somebody else. Make-up should bring out their personality and not change it. He specifically enjoys doing the make-up of brides because being part of their most important day makes him happy.
The make-up extraordinaire shared that if he was given a chance, he wants to meet British make-up artist Pat Macgrath. He admires her boldness in trying out different looks and the way she thinks outside the box and never conforms to what is too basic and safe. He also looks up to American make-up artist Kevin Aucoin because he has a great ability to transform people using make-up. Although Aucoin has already passed away, Glova said his passion and legacy can still be felt.
Glova also has his own make-up line that he launched in 2009. He decided to come up with his own make-up collection because he does not want to recommend brands especially to his students because according to him, he was not paid to do so. He collaborated with Kimberly Lam of Shopcoholic and they came up with the Jessie Glova Cosmetics collection. His inexpensive make-up sets, which are manufactured in Hongkong, are hypoallergenic and highly pigmented. The cosmetic collection includes long-lasting palettes of shimmer and neutral eyes shadows, blush and lip colors, as well as gentle brush sets. His make-up line is currently in the process of repackaging. According to Glova, it will be released in three months.
A Business Administration graduate from the University of San Jose-Recoletos, Glova candidly shared how he successfully climbed the ladder of success. He has always loved art; he paints, sings and dances. He specifically has a fetish for color relationships.
When he was still in high school, he used to practice on the faces of his friends’ cousins. He referred to them as his “victims,” but his human canvasses surely loved what they saw in the mirror. The Cebuano make-up artist shared that he would gladly volunteer to do the make-up of his schoolmates for pageants, programs and other events. His first experience in bridal make-up was during the wedding of one of his close friends. He would always be grateful that she trusted him. That experience made him realize that he can truly be a professional make-up artist.
When he was in college, he practiced on his own face. He tried different techniques and he was amazed how he was able to create unique looks. He realized that indeed, make-up can change a person’s appearance. He saved up to be able to buy branded make-up sets. He thought that it will be a great investment for his budding career. He joined a dramatics club, where he was able to do Fegi’s make-up. He then became the official make-up artist of the University of San Jose-Recoletos’ Adelante Dance Troupe. That particular experience enabled him to master his craft and meet Cebu’s top make-up artists. He was more inspired to continue what he was doing.
In 1995, he joined the Sandiego Dance Company. He started out as a make-up artist and eventually became a performer. Glova compares make-up to performing. According to him, when you perform, “you get to project different looks to convey the message of a dance and song.” Make-up is not just for cosmetic purposes. Rather, the application of make-up is a form of artistry, which also allows a person to express his thoughts and feelings.
While still in college, he thought of doing something else so he joined a fashion design competition. Fortunately, he became the Young Designer of Cebu grand prize winner. After graduation, he went to Singapore as a make-up artist, stylist and performer. After a year, his employer asked him to manage his bands in Malaysia. He juggled the role of manager, trainer and make-up artist/stylist. He travelled with the bands, which were comprised of males and females, around Southeast Asia.
Glova eventually got bored with his routine so he went to Australia in the hope of landing a job. His stay there was brief because things didn’t work out. A friend offered him work in the hotel industry in the United Kingdom where he stayed for two years. He met a Filipina who worked in a salon and had connections with big-time fashion moguls. She convinced him to take up a crash course in skin care and make-up. He would have wanted to work in the UK’s fashion industry but his working visa was denied.
The rejection may be heartbreaking but Glova came home to the Philippines equipped with experience and inspiration. Some may get discouraged, but the Cebuano artist was more determined to make it big in his own country and fulfill his long-time dream.
Today, his already impressive portfolio just continues to grow. Glova is currently the make-up consultant of Rustan’s Cebu and official make-up artist of Marco Polo Weddings. He has already been invited to fashion shows and movie premieres abroad, and worked with A-list celebrities, magazines and television networks. When he is not occupied in his studio, Jessie also devotes his time to the Corona Sugbuanon Organization, a nonprofit organization that helps aspiring beauty queens.
Despite the success that he has already attained, Glova still has a lot of dreams to realize. He plans to pursue a career in cinematic make-up and someday open a Jessie Glova Center for Aesthetics, which will cater to everything related to beauty and wellness.
Asked what advice he can give aspiring make-up artists, Glova imparts: “Dream big and offer everything to the Lord. Never stop loving what you do and continue learning.” He also added that a person should learn to acknowledge their success, growth and accomplishments, but they should remain humble.
